Please don't do this.

The Facebook group, Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore shared a post on July 23, that detailed the horrors a chained dog in the Siglap area was going through.

The post read:

Can you bear to walk away from this chained dog? Look at the photos and tell me that you aren't disgusted and ashamed of humans who broke the spirit of the poor animal till he no longer have the will to live?

He looked at us with his lifeless eyes, head lowered as if he is ashamed of his looks and retreated back into his rusty, dilapilated (sic) kennel. Where's justice? Where's compassion? Where's God?

These are the photos in question.

According to another comment on the post, the dog was previously confined in a cage.

This dog used to be In a drabby cage which was just disgusting. Then the owner saw me looking in at the dog all the time and they finally took that horrible cage away. His shop is doing so well and he can't afford to even give this poor dog a space in their house upstairs or a proper bowl of water

Legality

While there is no specific ban against the tethering of dogs, AVA had made a statement concerning tethering back in October 2015, according to Channel News Asia.

"Pet owners who choose to tie or tether their pet dogs … should ensure that the area where the dog is tethered is safe and comfortable, and sufficiently sheltered and ventilated. (It) should also be clean and have adequate space for the dog to lie down, stretch and move unimpeded within the confines of the restraint.”

Permanent damage

Whatever comes out of this, it is important to understand the permanence of the owner's actions.

According to the same post, the dog might never find another home again.

If we are successful in removing Him, we need to appeal for funds to keep him in a shelter as he has become aggressive due to the Long term chaining. But can we blame him?? Try being tied for 30 mins and see if we will go mad too??

He definitely have health issues that needs attention. He is unlikely to be rehome as he probably will take a Long time to trust any human in this lifetime.

Various commentors have brought up the case to AVA.
