MFA: No Singaporeans reported injured in Istanbul airport attack

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement to confirm that no Singaporeans were reported injured in the Istanbul airport attack on June 28, 2016.

Following the attacks on the Istanbul Ataturk Airport on 28 June 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has contacted most of the registered Singaporeans in Istanbul and have verified their safety.

Singaporeans in Turkey are advised to stay vigilant and follow the instructions of the Turkish authorities. Those who require consular assistance can contact the Singapore Embassy in Ankara (+ 90 530 066 7311) or the 24-hour MFA Duty Office (+65 6379 8800 / 8855).

Singapore strongly condemns the attacks and are saddened by the loss of many innocent lives. Singapore also extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope that the injured will make a quick recovery.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman's Comments on the attacks on Istanbul Ataturk Airport on 28 June 2016

Singapore strongly condemns the attacks on Istanbul Ataturk Airport on 28 June 2016, which has resulted in many casualties. We are saddened by the loss of many innocent lives and we stand in solidarity with the Turkish people and government during this difficult time. We also extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope that the injured will make a quick recovery.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted most of the registered Singaporeans in Istanbul and verified that they are safe. The Singapore Embassy in Ankara is also in touch with the local Turkish authorities. Thus far, there are no reports of any Singaporeans injured or directly affected by the incident. We will continue to contact the remaining registered Singaporeans.
