Manchester United was ordered to abandon their final Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth on Sunday, May 15, after a suspicious package was discovered at Old Trafford.

Manchester police ordered tens of thousands of fans to leave the 75,600 capacity stadium when the alert was sounded about 20 minutes before the scheduled kickoff at 10pm, Singapore time (3pm UK time).

The game "has been abandoned, fans are leaving the ground. Please avoid the area if possible”, the Manchester police said on their Twitter account.

United also sent out a tweet saying the match had been "ABANDONED" and confirmed that a suspicious package had been found in the Stretford End stand.

Multiple media reports say that a bomb squad has arrived at Old Trafford and will carry out a controlled explosion.

Meanwhile, defiant Manchester United fans were videoed singing, "Jihadi John we don't give a f**k, we're gonna win the FA Cup".

The FA Cup final will take place on May 22, where Manchester United will take on Crystal Palace.
