Former WWF Intercontinental and Women's Wrestling Champion Chyna, whose real name is Joan Marie Lauer, was found dead in her home earlier today, according to her manager.

Her official Twitter account was one of the first sources to break the news.

According to an Associated Press report, Chyna was found in her bed at her home in Redondo Beach, California.

There were apparently no signs of foul play, but police suspect the death might be due to a possible drug overdose.

Born on December 27, 1970 in Rochester, New York, Chyna was a multiple-time Intercontinental and Women's champion in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and was perhaps best known for her time in D-Generation X, or DX.

She rose to prominence there in the 1990s.

However, Chyna left the WWF abruptly in 2001, after being let go by WWF management.

The departure had a profound impact on her life as she subsequently struggled with addiction issues.

She later went on to star in her own reality series, as well as six adult films.

At the time of her death, Chyna was working on a documentary about her life, entitled “The Reconstruction of Chyna.”

Just last year, she said it was supposed to offer a glimpse into what she’s “been up to for [the past] 15 years.“
