It is that time of the year again.

The Singapore Armed Forces Military Working Dog Unit is putting up for adoption several veteran military working dogs that have retired from service.

This is part of the unit's adoption drive that happens on a regular basis.

Having served with pride and distinction, the hope is for these large dogs to end up in good homes to spend their remaining days purely as companions.

In this current batch, there is a good mix of male and female dogs. The youngest dog is only five years old, while the oldest is 16.

In a post put up on Facebook on March 29 to inform the public about this adoption drive, the SAF helpfully and diplomatically included a list of HDB-approved dog breeds.

In other words, if you stay in a HDB flat, none of these large breeds of dogs are eligible for your adoption because they are all not HDB-approved.

The SAF said they will continue to care for these retired dogs till their last day if there are no suitable adopters.

Those who are keen can make an appointment with the Military Working Dog Unit by calling their hotline at 64246623.

A house visit will be conducted by the trainer to assess living conditions before final approval is given for the adoption.

Here are the dogs:
