Singapore swim sensation Joseph Schooling shaved almost two seconds off the previous NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) 200-yard butterfly record.
Schooling, who is representing the University of Texas, struck gold with a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious swim at 1min 37.97 sec yesterday at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
The previous record of 1:39.33 was set in 2014 Dylan Bosch.
What made his swim all the more impressive was that eventual second-place Jack Conger – also Schooling's schoolmate - was leading for the first 150 yards.
The last 50 yards lap (editor's note: a reader pointed out that the NCAA is a short course competition, so it should be 25 yards) saw Schooling (in lane 3) doing this:

Earlier, Schooling also set a new record at the 100-yard butterfly event in 44.01, breaking a seven-year-old record of 44.18.
