In 2016, Singapore is pretty much doomed.

Besides having the country destroyed by aliens in the upcoming Independence Day: Resurgence movie, other disasters will be headed Singapore's way, according to one billionaire investor and another astrologer.

Prediction 01: Singapore to absorb China's banking crisis fallout

First up: "A massive banking crisis is brewing in Singapore, says Swiss billionaire Zulauf", screamed this headline.

“It'>

is conceivable that Singapore, which has attracted a lot of foreign capital over the years because of its image as a strong-currency state, will be extremely exposed to the situation in China."

Swiss billionaire and financial person Felix Zulauf warned during the annual Barron’s roundtable this year that Singapore’s largest banks are at risk of massive capital outflows.

This will happen if the Chinese economy experiences a hard landing, which he expects will happen in 2016.

He posits that Singapore will be extremely exposed to the situation in China, having attracted a lot of foreign capital here over the years because of its image as a strong-currency state.

And as Singapore is losing capital now, it means the banking industry is losing deposits.

But have no fear, as these are just postulations.

Because even if a banking crisis doesn't wipe you out, you can count on the good old natural disaster to take you south.

According to an allegedly popular Malaysian Indian astrology expert, Singapore together with other countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines are likely to be hit by natural disasters in 2016.

Dr T Selva, who is regarded as a Vasthu Sastra or Indian astrology expert, had his predictions published in an article in the New Sarawak Tribune on Feb. 7, when he made a visit to Kuching.

The best-selling Malaysian author of books on Indian geomancy and TV personality also foresees terrorism erupting in several countries located near the equator and southern hemisphere.

Australia and New Zealand, he said, are another two countries that are expected to face natural disasters.

If we make it past this year with nothing major happening, let's look back and have a hearty good laugh at them.
