Update, Feb. 9, 2016: Police established that the police vehicle and a car were involved in an accident. The car had allegedly hit the rear door of the police vehicle causing it to swerve, mount the pavement and hit a lamppost.

A tree at Dorset Road became an unwitting victim of an accident after a police car crashed into it on Feb. 8 afternoon, on the first day of Chinese New Year.

Photos of the crash that occurred at Dorset Road were posted on Facebook by Prashant Thadathil, who wrote:

A Police car sped past me along Dorset road and I kid you not, but I had thought to myself, "Wow that Police car is going way too fast! (On a narrow road like this)." Moments later, it swerves and crashes, narrowly missing a fitness corner where a few kids were playing.

The Straits Times followed up on the story and reported that the accident occurred at around 2.45pm, with no injuries reported.

The police car was believed to be travelling at around 60 to 70km/h, according to Prashant.

A lamppost also appeared damaged as it stopped the police car in its tracks.
