Your ultimate GE2015 guide to makan places near rally sites: West edition

This covers rally sites in Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Chua Chu Kang, Hong Kah North, Jurong, Pioneer, West Coast and Yuhua.

Food is abundant. Especially in Singapore, it’s all around us. Turn left and you see food. Turn right and you see more food. Close your eyes and once you open them, voila, food.

But it’s the hustings. So if you fail to plan (for food), you are planning to fail.

It’s okay. We shall help you plan — where to eat!

You’ll also need to head home after the rally, and for that, we strongly advise against waiting for taxis or trying to get Uber or GrabCarsas they’ll very likely be few and far between. Public transport is the way to go.

Without further ado, for rally sites in the West:

There’s a stretch of food stalls along Clementi Road known affectionately to the NUS students as the ‘Ameen’s stretch’. The stall has since been renamed Al-amaan, but the name has stuck. Other notable eateries include Fong Seng Nasi Lemak, Fei Fei Wanton Mee and Niqqi’s The Cheese Prata Shop.

Rally location 2: Clementi Stadium
Makan location: Ah Hoe Mee Pok (Blk 710 Clementi West St 2, Singapore 120710) — Raved as one of the best bak chor mee stalls in Singapore, this place is but a stone’s throw away from the rally site. Only issue: It closes at 4:30pm, so try it before the rally kicks off.

– The Usual Place (346 Jurong East St 31 #01-73, Singapore 600346) A newly-opened café in the vicinity. Reviews so far appear satisfactory, and the Salted Egg Pasta and the Usual Wings are must-tries!
– Jurong West Frog Porridge (Block 491 Jurong West Avenue 1) This isn’t the stall’s exact name, but this is what it has chosen to name itself on its Facebook page. It even has a blog! Very busy from 6-9pm, but worth the wait for sure.
