A day after Workers’ Party (WP) Sec-Gen Low Thia Khiang did a Jerry Maguire (or Rihanna), Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean returned the salvo by making it rain.

DPM Teo said on Sep. 6 that a total of $22.5 million in CASH was handed over to Aljunied Hougang Punggol East town council (AHPETC) after the 2013 Punggol East by-election.

The Pasir Ris – Punggol candidate told Channel NewsAsia:

“Mr Low very dramatically showed one page of the accounts – there are 20 over pages in the accounts.

“If you look at the whole set, we were very careful to hand over everything that was due to our residents here. We wanted to do right for them.

“After we handed over all these accounts – S$22.5 million in cash – AHPETC has never submitted an unqualified set of accounts. So, the real question is … I hope this cash is properly accounted for by them.”

Another Minister – Ng Eng Hen – also told Channel NewsAsia that PAP will issue “definitive clarification” on Punggol East accounts. In fact, Ng added that

“The facts will speak for themselves and, if Mr Low agrees on the facts, he may have to issue a correction. I hope he is gentlemanly enough to accept that he was wrong in this regard.”

Earlier today, fellow Pasir Ris – Punggol candidate posted this on Facebook.
