The Straits Times' placement of stories today is rather unfortunate to say the least

Scanning through The Straits Times today (July 28), we noticed two contrasting stories lined up together on the same page.

One – obviously joyous – was about the biggest, boldest fireworks show for NDP ever and the other was a sombre story about the death of Mount Elizabeth Hospital CEO Joycelyn Ling.

Which got us thinking: why put these two stories together?

Upon closer inspection...

It was reported that the CEO of Mount Elizabeth Hospital died on Sunday morning and is believed to have collapsed after watching the fireworks display from the National Day Parade rehearsal.

If this isn't an unfortunate placement of stories, we don't know what is.

Joycelyn is survived by her husband, Edwin Chow, and a son. Rest in Peace, Joycelyn.
