10 SEA Games 2015 Facebook match-ups between Ministers Tan Chuan-Jin and Lawrence Wong

Who is the king of social media?

Martino Tan| June 19, 05:43 PM

Assuming that you are a Facebook user, you would have noticed the postings by Ministers Tan Chuan-Jin and Lawrence Wong over the past two weeks of SEA Games fever.

If host Kelly Latimer is the queen of SEA Games TV, Ministers Tan and Wong ruled the social media world with their timely and informative Facebook posts about the SEA Games.

Ministers Tan Chuan-Jin and Lawrence Wong

The Social and Family Development Minister and the Culture, Community and Youth Minister are of course the leading candidates of the fourth generation leadership for Singapore.

In fact, Ministers Tan and Wong were promoted together in the fourth round of Cabinet changes on April 29. 2014.

This is what Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had to say about them when he promoted them:

"They have performed well since taking office, and mastered their portfolios. They have also worked hard on the ground, winning the respect and trust of Singaporeans."

They have mastered their portfolios, but have they mastered the treacherous waters of social media?

Let's compare their Facebook performances and pay tribute to the two biggest cheer-leaders of SEA Games over the last two weeks.

6-6! Both posts featured the netballers. Wong acted as the ultimate fanboy with his autographed poster.

Tan_Chuan_Jin_PM_Lee_Hsien_Loong

Tan was foaming with anger from the rough play by the Malaysian team. But PM Lee asked Tan whether he was drooling. Foaming or drooling, Tan gets our laughs for salivating over the netballers.

Since it's a draw, let's give both the Ministers an award instead.
