Team Singapore's poster boy Joseph Schooling responded in the best possible way by winning the 100m Freestyle, leaving compatriot Quah Zheng Wen in his wake.
Oh and did we mention that it's a new Games Record at 48.58s?
Expectations were high, judging from the crowd's reaction.
And he duly delivered in emphatic fashion, beating Quah by 1.33s.
And MCCY Minister Lawrence Wong came in third for the photo shoot. Third place went to Vietnamese Quy Phuoc Hoang.
In an earlier match, Tao Li delivered a Gold by winning her pet event - the 50m Butterfly.
Also in a SEA Games record.
