The Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) has apologised again with a wall of text on the SEA Games closing ceremony incident on June 17, when hundreds of SEA Games 2015 closing ceremony ticket holders were stuck outside the stadium after their allocated gates for entry were closed abruptly.

SINGSOC first apologised on the same night, and have offered a full refund to those who had purchased a ticket.

Below is a summary of SINGSOC's second apology, as we juxtaposed some of the questions that we posed to them

1. Did the organisers over-issue the tickets for the closing ceremony? Why did the organisers decide to over-issue the tickets?

SINGSOC did not reply directly to whether they over-issued the tickets.

SINGSOC said that 30% of ticket holders for the Opening Ceremony were “no-shows” and confirm that there were still sufficient seats in the stadium for all those who came for the event.

2. Did the organisers communicate clearly with its volunteers on how to handle such a crowd situation?

SINGSOC gave a non answer that they could have done a lot better in better managing the rapid build-up of crowds and the ushering at entry gates.

3. Did the pitch invasion compromise the athletes’ safety and security?

SINGSOC clarified that the crowds that entered the stadium pitch for the party was pre-planned and coordinated with the stadium operators, crowd safety officers and security personnel. And the safety limit on the number of persons on the pitch was not breached.

Below is the full statement by SINGSOC.
