He could have been an investment banker, some high-flying corporate type or even a Master of the Universe trader, but, no.

Instead, Wong Kai Jiun decided to join the civil service.

Currently the Special Assistant to the minister, Wong was a child prodigy with perfect results. He was featured in The Straits Times in a March 1, 1997 article, "Top Students Made Sure They Did Not Lose Sleep Over Exams":

A GOOD night's sleep was part of the winning formula for two of this year's three top O-level students.

Wong Kai Jiun of Raffles Institution, who scored 10 A1s, once tried studying for examinations till 1 or 2 am.

"I was so wiped out that I never tried that method again," said the 16-year-old.

He ended up turning in at 10 pm the night before each examination, and fortified himself by drinking chicken essence whenever he felt tired.

He obtained the highest grade for each of his 10 subjects: English, higher Chinese, elementary mathematics, advanced mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, history, geography and Japanese. He had sat for Chinese in 1995 and got an A1 as well.

Recently, he was featured in law and foreign affairs minister K Shanmugam's video, A Day in the Life of a Minister, which demonstrates why he might just be the real MVP:
