Lee family took out ads in papers to thank S'poreans at the 1 month anniversary of his passing

The family of the late Lee Kuan Yew took out full-page advertisements published in major newspapers in Singapore on Thursday, April 23, 2015, to express their thanks to the public for the affection and respect shown to the former prime minister.

The advertisements were placed exactly one month following the founding prime minister's passing on March 23.

The ads have been taken out in both Singapore Press Holdings- and MediaCorp-owned newspapers.

How much is the estimated cost of such an ad?

The estimated cost of just one full-page advertisement in The Straits Times is about $30,000, without factoring in any discounts for bulk placements.

Cost of advertisements in the daily newspapers vary according to size, the number of colours printed, day of the week and even the page placement (e.g. right-hand or left-hand side of the page).

Based on the rates stated on page 19 of SPH media rate book (updated on October 2014), the cost of a page A7 (right-hand side) advertisement in The Straits Times on a Thursday with 1-spot colour is $29,752.40.
