Update 1 May, 1500Hrs: Yee's lawyer Alfred Dodwell told socio-political site The Online Citizen that he was not alerted to the standing down of the harassment charge at any point during the court proceedings yesterday.

Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam has condemned the actions of the stranger who slapped Amos Yee this afternoon, saying that the actions were "quite unacceptable".

Teenager Amos Yee, who was in court today for his online rant against Christianity, was given, what appears to be, a tight slap by a stranger dressed in a red and black T-shirt. The man yelled, "Sue me!" before fleeing the scene.

On his Facebook post, Minister Shanmugan said, "hope that the attacker will be caught quickly, and is dealt with appropriately".

Minister Shanmugam also understood that "the charge in respect of his statements on Mr Lee Kuan Yew have been stood down".

However, socio-political site The Online Citizen quoted Yee’s lawyer, Alfred Dodwell, who said that he was not alerted to the standing down of the harassment charge at any point during the court proceedings yesterday:

“I want all three charges to go ahead. The Prosecution should either drop the charge or go ahead with it. We can’t have it hanging over our client’s head. There seems to be no reason to stand down the charge as it is in relation to the same video.”

Yee will be held in remand after his bailor Vincent Law discharged himself.

This came after the 16-year-old violated the terms of his bail by posting a series of 10 updates earlier this morning, which included two blog posts titled “The Ridiculous Terms of my Bail” and “My Abusive Father”.
