Tributes for Lee Kuan Yew stream in from S'pore's leadership

Tributes have started to stream in hours after the news of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew's passing broke.

Singapore's first prime minister had Lee passed away at 3:18am on March 23, 2015. He was 91.

Mothership rounds up what some of our ministers have to say about his passing.

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong - "He has bequeathed a monumental legacy to Singaporeans - a safe, secure, harmonious and prosperous independent Singapore, our Homeland."

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong quoted Mr Lee Kuan Yew during his address at 8am earlier: "I have spent my life, so much of it, building up this country. There's nothing more that I can do. At the end of the day, what have I got? A successful Singapore. What have I given up? My life."
