This was how Singaporeans looked like on the night they did not sleep

Where will you be when the rest of Singapore is sleepless?

Late Thursday evening and early Friday morning marked the second night Singaporeans queued through the dead of night to pay their respects to Lee Kuan Yew.

Aside from the epic queues snaking round the Padang, several community centres have also been transformed into 24-hour community tribute centres

We found that two instagrammers thought it was a good idea to travel through the night to document the people at these centres. They even found time to interview the volunteers/visitors there.

We asked them if we could ‘borrow’ some of their photos and they agreed:

“Balloons make people happy. I want Mr Lee to be happy. We must celebrate his life. I am building another sculpture. This one requires one day. It’s ok, I’m not so tired. I can walk home and sleep when I am done.” Diana Lim, 56, Freelance balloon sculptor. Source: @aikbengchia “Balloons make people happy. I want Mr Lee to be happy. We must celebrate his life.
