After committing the pun bun fiasco, BreadTalk rose (wink wink) to the occasion.

Their staff were spotted at the Padang this morning, offering free cakes to the public who came to pay their last respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, reported Yahoo Singapore.

This act of kindness was a far cry from just a few days ago, when the confectionery company started to sell Lee Kuan Yew commemorative buns with a try-very-hard-to-be-clever-but-the-joke-is-on-them pun: "李不开你", which means "can't LEEve you".

Although proceeds will go to Community Chest, many netizens couldn't beLEEvie it and whacked the Singaporean brand with all the baguette they could find.

However, this morning's appearance has confirmed that BreadTalk is still a company that listens to public feedback.

BreadTalk replied on Mothership's Facebook that they promised they were looking into the possibility of doing this for people in the queue.

During the pun bun fiasco earlier this week, many netizens encouraged the company to give out free pastry to the crowd queuing up and waiting for hours to bid farewell to Mr Lee.

BreadTalk, next time think before you make such a dough move okay?
