If there is one thing you need to get your hands on now, it is the Qian Hu Corp 2015 calendar.

Besides showing you brightly coloured photos of different types of aquarium life forms that are bred and sold by Singapore's most successful fish farm business, they are accompanied by equally eye-catching quotes.

These pearls of wisdom were formulated by Kenny Yap (only guy pictured below), also known as Kenny The Fish, who is the 49-year-old executive chairman of Qian Hu Corp. He has a personality that is as colourful as the fishes he rears.

It was reported quite some time back in 2009 that his Qian Hu calendars were already making heads spin and it was revealed that he personally comes up with the quotes while on the toilet as it gives him quiet time to think.

Yap, for those not in the know, is famous for being flamboyant and a jester.

In The Straits Times report on July 31, 2013, this is what he had to say about the longevity of his ornamental fish business:

The popularity of other pets like dogs and cats may be growing, but he believes that the fish business has a less drastic business cycle and is more resistant to recession.

"If the economy is bad and you lose your job, you won't go home and kill your fish, right?" he says with a laugh.

His quotable nature naturally translates into his company's approach to irreverence.

Every year, apparently, there are different themes for the calendar. Sometimes, the fishes are given personalities and they can talk, while some years the quotes are focused on the family.

For example, April 2010's quote went something like: "Love your mum equally like you would love your new mistress. Love your father equally like you will love your son."

Or how about December 2010's quote: "If your children fight over your wealth when you have passed away, you are a failed parent."

The Qian Hu calendars are printed for $2 apiece and have been distributed since 2004. Each year, about 5,000 to 6,000 are given out to shareholders, customers and friends and they have become a corporate gift to look forward to because of its madcap offbeat presentation.

Here are some choice quotes from Qian Hu's coveted 2015 calendar:

I like Thai people because of their gentle character and smile.

Yes, I'm sure our Mothership.sg writer Alden Tan agrees.

I wish that all people whom I like and I don't will all LIKE me. Haha!

Will I still like you tomorrow? That really depends!

Depends on what? If you still use Facebook?

I don't care if you are rich or poor, Singaporean or foreigner, smelly or ugly. If you are a nice person, I will like you.
