Former Reform Party candidate Alex Tan has claimed that he is a victim of harassment because he openly criticises the People's Action Party (PAP).

He believes his harassers are pro-PAP supporters and said that their online harassment was becoming more frequent.

He said that there was even a Facebook page dedicated to harass him. The page that is dedicated to him is called 'Actually, I'm a technician'. The technician reference could be due to the fact that Tan studied engineering.

He added that they have also targeted his wife who is not a Singaporean.

The modus operandi of these "harassers" is to quote Tan's online comments and make them into pictures to share on various Facebook pages including: Fabrications about the PAP and Fabrications Led by Opposition Parties.

It is a technique that has been employed by both pro- and anti-PAP supporters.

Besides contesting in the 2011 General Elections under the Reform Party (as a loaned candidate from Singapore People's Party), Tan also made it into the news in 2012 when he sent an expletive-laden email to SBS Transit, which was also addressed to the Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew.

He subsequently wrote an apology letter to SBS Transit after a Magistrate Complaint was lodged against him.

According to his Facebook page, he is now a writer for The Real Singapore.
