Thanks to social media, we know what Lee Kuan Yew did on his 91st birthday

Why read the papers when politicians are now your reporters?

Many Singaporeans are probably curious how Mr Lee Kuan Yew spent his 91st birthday yesterday.

Thought of following him on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Unlike many local politicians, Mr Lee does not have his own social media platforms.

But if you are cool like him, you do not need your own social media platforms to inform your fans about your whereabouts.

Other politicians become your citizen journalists:

We know that Mr Lee did not spend his birthday with his son PM Lee Hsien Loong. PM Lee was away in China on a work trip.

Morning: Preparing your replies to the birthday well-wishers.

Afternoon: Have your regular Chinese lessons, dressed in his red jacket.

Evening: Dinner with his Principal Private Secretaries and Press Secretaries, including Education Minister and former PPS Heng Swee Keat.
