A LinkedIn survey, which collated information from more than 1,000 professionals and parents of professionals, surfaced today (Sept 17, 2014) and the findings were surprising.

The survey was part of LinkedIn's Bring In Your Parents Day, which encourages businesses worldwide to welcome their employees' parents to the workplace. It happens on Nov. 6 this year.

Mothership.sg took the liberty to present the findings in pictorial form:

53 per cent of parents surveyed are hesitant to share professional knowledge that could aid their children's careers.

But their kids beg to differ. 59 per cent of them believe they could benefit professionally from their parents' knowledge and skills.

The top 3 reasons why parents are reluctant to share? 38 per cent of parents feel that their children have not needed it.

34 per cent think the working world has moved on without them and their advice belongs to the Jurassic period.

Lastly, 28 per cent think they lack knowledge of their child's career.

One thing is for sure: The results showed that the Bring In Your Parents Day needs more traction in Singapore so that miscommunication like this will not happen again.
