We now know that former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew spent his 91st birthday at Kuriya Dining.

Apparently, he is not the first personality to visit this Japanese fine dining restaurant.

Check out the guests who had enjoyed its delicious sashimi and tempura:

Football star David Beckham

President Tony Tan

Football Star Cristiano Ronaldo

When Mothership.sg visited the restaurant today, the service staff told us that the Japanese restaurant is already fully booked this F1 weekend.

We decided to check out their lunch set and give a 140-character take of their food there.

1. Pork Gyoza and Sashimi Set

Pork Gyoza

The fried pork was succulent but I don't think Lee Kuan Yew would have liked it. We heard he likes fish, so the fresh sashimi will be more agreeable to his tastes.

2. Tempura Mori Set

I don't think Lee Kuan Yew ate the tempura that night. The prawns were springy and fried to perfection, but probably too hard for a 91-year-old. He most likely had the chawanmushi and miso soup with tofu. And maybe the tamago.

3. Tsubodai & Sashimi Set

Tsubodai

On top of the full-of-ingredients chawanmushi, Lee Kuan Yew may also have taken a small portion of the tsubodai (Japanese armorhead, someone needs to debone it for him) since the fish was rather soft and buttery.

4. Unagi Kabiyaki Set

Unagi Kabayaki set lunch

In this distinctly average Unagi set meal that was so un-LKY, only two things stood out: the smooth Chawanmushi and flavourful miso soup.
