M1 has halted pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Sept. 15, 2014, at 7pm, after they were informed of a potential security breach by a customer.

A member of the public, who is a Computer Science masters student, told Channel News Asia on Sept. 15, 2014, that he had managed to access forms showing private data from customers using a cookie modifier plugin on Google Chrome.

He had discovered the loophole as he was trying to get a new iPhone himself.

Sensitive information such as phone numbers, NRIC and home addresses were accessible. He also said that any sophisticated hacker would be able to download the whole database in just a matter of hours.

M1's website is currently under maintenance, presumably in response to this loophole.

Faced with the prospect of waiting perhaps a day more before they can place orders, irate customers who were unable to reserve their iPhones are accusing M1 of not stocking enough products.

In its latest post, M1 informed customers that the potential security breach has been rectified and they are now accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 6.

They apologised for the incident and will be conducting a full review on it.
