China's top search engine, Baidu, has stuck its neck out and made its World Cup 2014 winner prediction: Germany will beat Argentina in the final based on their computer modelling and algorithmic number crunching technique.

And in third place will be host Brazil who are expected to edge out Netherlands.

Baidu is boasting that they have so far been 100 percent accurate in predicting the outcome of the group of 16 games and World Cup quarter-final, a feat even Microsoft's Cortana and Bing has not achieved.

World Cup 2014 winner prediction: Germany 59% vs Argentina 41%

World Cup 2014 3rd place winner: Brazil 56% vs Netherlands 44%

As to how Baidu's data scientists get their results, you can read an explanation of it in Tech In Asia.

But basically, it involves taking into account several factors including recent game performance and bookmaker odds.

Singaporeans from all walks of life will be holding their breath and keeping their fingers cross.

Because this could be Andy's big break.
