Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) Lawrence Wong had a cameo on MediaCorp’s Ch8 television drama "World At Your Feet", playing who else but a Minister at a football tournament.

Despite not appearing in the television series except for these two episodes, Wong intuitively grasped his role, revealing in guarded increments degrees of strength and awkwardness. He also managed to do a kick-off as the VIP without any NG shots.

Just like a real Minister, he also made a speech in the show.

“Good morning, distinguished guests and friends. I'm very pleased to see so many teams participating in this tournament. I hope, while you're gunning for glory, you'll also come together in the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship. Let's build a community that enjoys sporting activities. I announce the quarter-finals of the Friendship Cup open."

The MCCY even came out with a contest, asking:

What did Minister Lawrence Wong do to start the football competition?

Fans' reply: Kicking a soccer ball.

Our reply: Being a Minister, and acting a little stiff.
