PM Lee Hsien Loong knows what's SIC, he shared the free version of a paid article

Because Sharing Is Caring

Martino Tan| June 17, 11:33 AM

This morning, PM Lee Hsien Loong shared an article on Facebook from little known news publication Irish Times.

The commentary observed how Apple is losing its way with words in its recent recruitment ad, using obfuscating words and jargon. Just as how the company is losing its way by becoming too corporate and not doing things that once made it different.

Wow. How many newspapers does PM Lee read everyday?

Actually, the article first appeared in the Financial Times on Sunday but Financial Times has a paywall. This means that unless you pay a subscription, you will not be able to read the article.

PM Lee probably understands that many Singaporeans do not subscribe to the Financial Times (or Straits Times for that matter), so he decided to share the Irish Times article which was edited slightly from the original one appearing on the Financial Times with the public

Using the article as a lesson, he urged his colleagues and the government to use simple language which people can understand and avoid "big words" which will not impress anyone.

He added that "the govt have tried hard to be direct and clear in our comms, but once in a while we still fall short".

The agencies in charge of Central Provident Fund, Pioneer Generation Package, and Medishield Life, please take note of PM's advice.
