Close to 600 people participated in Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin's first ever live chat on Facebook. He was joined by MP Patrick Tay, who is also the NTUC Assistant Secretary General.

Minister Tan said that it was an interesting platform to interact with Singaporeans. He also found it encouraging that Singaporeans are speaking to each other and solving their own concerns on the platform.

The #AskMe series is touted as a new online initiative by REACH to promote greater interactivity between the public and the Government.

Through this series, REACH aims to provide a platform which allows the online community to raise questions and interact with Political Office Holders on national issues.

Singaporeans were able to pose questions online on the REACH Discussion Forum or via an online form.

1. The session started with pleasantries:

2. And an establishing of house rules online:

3. And then questions were told to be directed at the right time:

4. And of course, a very serious request of monumental national interest had to be asked:

5. The questions just kept coming hard and fast:

6. There was feedback as well:

7. More feedback

8. Finally, some advice:

9. And more complaints about the format of the chat:

10. And grandmother stories:

11. To be continued...

12. And more complaints:

13. Some more stories:

14. Tan responds to CPF issues:

15. Even the minister thinks the chat is painful:

16. And it's goodbye:
