"This is in fact little reason for this follow-up movie to be made at all, given how the characters barely go through any sort of development...Most of this film, however, simply feels like a rehash of its predecessor. - The Straits Times (1.5 / 5 stars)

"This coming-of-age action caper seems to have been made only so that Neo could cynically cash in on the boys' overnight popularity. The directing is lazy... whatever goodwill for the actors, reprising their one-dimensional roles, is depleting." - 8 Days (1.5 / 5 Stars)

Did you enjoy Lion Men?

If you enjoyed the initial installment, you will appreciate Lion Men 2 even more.

Because it is not as bad as the first movie.

Director Jack Neo managed to set our expectations of the second movie so low, we would be easily satisfied if the new movie does not look like a remake of the Singapore Tourism Board video.

So why is Part 2 better?

1.  There were fewer product placements.

2. Neo has given up on promoting new talents. He decided to just focus on Tosh Zhang, Wang Weiliang, and Eva Cheng, making the movie easier to follow.

3. Most important of all, there is no part three to this movie.

4. Lastly, there is 19-year old China actress Eva Cheng, whose acting skills are quite decent.

The Straits Times movie critic, Yip Wai Yee, obviously has higher standards for the movie and Eva, so here are her top two criticisms:

1. "It...highlights just how terrible he (Jack Neo) is at crafting strong female roles."

2. "Xiao Yu (Eva's character) here is the worst role model for young female audiences as she deliberately casts herself as the victim in hopes of getting her "hero" boyfriend to come and rescue her. Er, what century are we living in?"

The 21st century where Instagrams and GIFs reign supreme?
