30-question survey to measure employee happiness

The National Workplace Happiness Survey is launched by the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI).This annual survey measures workplace happiness and allows participants to see how they compare to others on a Workplace Happiness Index.

Are you the unhappiest employee in Singapore? The only way to find out is to take the online survey at HappyWorkPlace.sg where you can see how happy/unhappy at work you are compared to other Singaporeans who took the survey.

While the name of the website may potentially skew responses towards the 'happy' end of the spectrum, such a survey may shed some light on workplace satisfaction levels. The survey results is only useful if companies actively take in feedback and recommendations provided by SHRI.

8 weeks in jail for driver who breached Woodlands checkpoint

Malaysian Poultry seller Koh Chin Had was handed a deterrent sentence for breaching the Woodlands Checkpoint. The sentences for similar offences in the past were four to five weeks. Koh was the third of four offenders since January this year. He claimed that he had lost his way and meant to U-turn back to Malaysia. He tried to tailgate a vehicle in front of him to drive past a barrier at the arrival counter. The officer manning the arrival counter triggered a lockdown of the arrival car zone and trapped Koh.

The news of Nurul Ruhana Ishak and Tan Chu Seng being able to drive past immigration unchecked and into Singapore before being apprehended only several hours after may have emboldened others to attempt to do the same. Or perhaps the rise in media reports could be the Immigration Checkpoints Authority sharing more information on arrests it does on a regular basis to warn others not to do the same. Hopefully that is the case, and not one where there were incidents of breaches that were unreported.
