Seafood restaurant Fish & Co. Singapore has appointed DSPG as their new PR agency to manage its Facebook page, while the former Facebook administrator for the restaurant's page has apologised for the advertisement that made reference to the Little India riots.

On Dec. 9, Fish & Co. posted its ad for its Bombay Fish and Chips on its FB at about 4pm, before taking it down about an hour later.

The photo of the meal was superimposed on a background photo of Little India, with the tongue-in-cheek line: “Stay Away From Riot & Eat Bombay Fish and Chips”.

The posting drew flak immediately, as many fans on its FB page slammed it as being insensitive.

Both Sgag and Mothership.sg highlighted the incident on the same day, before Fish & Co. apologised on Facebook a few hours later.

DSPG has since clarified that the insensitive advertisement was initiated by a third-party administrator "without Fish & Co.s' management's knowledge or approval".

The spokesperson added that she believed it was the work of "an individual F&B marketer".

She said that the third-party administrator wished to apologise to Fish & Co. and the public for the act.

However, details have remained sketchy.

The spokesperson declined to reveal the identity of the third party administrator.

She was also unable to say how long was the time lapse between the removal of the post and the apology.
