Singapore's total population grew at its slowest pace in nine years (as of June 2013), with just an increase of 1.6 percent from a year ago.

The good news though, is that residents of Singapore (referring to citizens plus permanent residents) are seeing a bit more bedroom action.

Below is a summary of National Population and Talent Division (NPTD)'s Population in Brief 2013:

1 As of June 2013, Singapore’s total population was 5.40 million.

2 The citizen population grew by 0.9% to 3.31 million - and continued to grow older, with 11.7% aged 65 and above.

3 The permanent resident (PR) population remained stable at 0.53 million.

4 Singapore's birth rates have improved. The resident Total Fertility Rate (TFR) increased from 1.20 (2011) to 1.29 (2012), with improvements seen across all ethnic groups.
