Everything you need to know about the International Olympic Committee meetings in 60 seconds

The 125th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from September 7 to September 10 2013. The IOC members made a number of decisions, including the selection of the host city for the 2020 Olympic Games on 7 September, the decision on the composition of the 2020 Olympic programme on 8 September, and the election of the next IOC President on 10 September.

Below is a summary of the sessions:

1. Selection of 2020 Olympics Host City: Tokyo was selected as the host city of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games on September 7.

2. How the voting went:

1st Round - Tokyo (42 votes); Istanbul (26 votes); and Madrid (26 votes).

1st Round Run-off: Istanbul (49 votes); Madrid (45 votes).

2nd Round - Tokyo (60 votes); Istanbul (36 votes) Abstention 1 vote.

3. New sports for the 2020 Olympic programme: Wrestling has been reinstated to the Olympic Games and will now feature at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.

4. How the voting went: Wrestling secured 49 votes. Baseball/Softball secured 24 votes and Squash got 22 votes.

5. Election of the next IOC President: Thomas Bach (Germany) was elected as the new President. The current president Jacques Rogge has served as president since 2001.

6. Candidates for the IOC Presidency: There are six IOC members who ran for the Presidency. They are Thomas Bach (Germany), Sergey Bubka (Ukraine), Richard Carrión (Puerto Rico), Ng Ser Miang (Singapore), Denis Oswald (Switzerland), and Ching Kuo Wu (Chinese Taipei).

7. Singapore's candidate Ng Ser Miang: Ng Ser Miang is the Vice-President of the IOC. He is Singapore's non-resident ambassador to Norway since 2001 and was President of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (2007-2010).
